In collaboration with St. Joseph High School, various parents came together in May of 2015 to form a parent prayer ministry group. The intention was to bring families together in prayer, but this quickly evolved into implementing activities that support faith formation and build a stronger sense of community at St. Joseph High School. Families In Christ was the result of those efforts. We are, however, first and foremost, parents united in prayer for the good of our children, our families, our school and our community.
All St. Joseph High School families are members of Families In Christ. We hope you join us for prayer, fellowship and participate in the activities we’ve planned for this coming school year.
Our Mission Statement:
Working together with faculty, parents and students to strengthen the Catholic identity of the school through prayer, education and activities.
During the 2016/2017 school year, we will focus on three main activities:
Prayer life activities on campus and opportunities for fellowship.
A yearly parent retreat which will have three key components:
- Personal faith in Christ
- Parenting in the modern age
- Community building.
Implement a Families in Christ web page on SJHS website to include resources that support faith formation and provide information for those interested in the Catholic faith.
Meeting Dates and Times:
2nd & 4th Tuesday: St. Joseph School Chapel
We will meet to pray for the intentions of the school community every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the school chapel. Come for as long as you would like...5 minutes, 45 minutes, 2 hours...it is a time for you, your prayer life, intentions, quiet reflection.
First Friday of the Month: Saint Louis de Montfort Church
We also meet every Thursday before the first Friday of the month from 7:35pm - 8:30pm in the Mahan Room (lower floor of the community building, adjacent to the parish hall) at St. Louis de Montfort Church, 5075 Harp Road.
We meet after the half-hour Novena, which begins at 7:00 pm and takes place in the church. Everyone is invited to attend the Novena, but it is not a requirement. All families of any faith are welcome and encouraged to attend the monthly meetings and share in fellowship.
At the meeting, we discuss the progress we are making toward the implementation of various projects/activities as well as their outcomes – mainly ensuring outcomes align with our mission statement.
Also, all parents are invited to attend the school Masses. An area in the bleachers or chairs will be available for you to sit. Please join us!
