ATTENDANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Absences
When a student is absent, or going to be late due to a doctor or dentist appointment, the parent must call the Attendance Office between 7:00 and 9:00 am.  Failure to do so may result in an unexcused absence.  When the student returns to school from an absence, they must present a note signed from the parent/guardian explaining the absence to the Attendance Secretary before school begins.

An illness absence of 3 days or more requires a doctor's note for re-admittance to class.

Off-Campus Appointments
Any student who will be leaving campus during school hours for a medical or dental appointment, or for a personal reason, must present a note signed by a parent or guardian to the Attendance Secretary before school starts or at break. The student will be given an Off-Campus Pass that must remain in their possession at all times. The pass must be shown to the teacher upon leaving the class. The student is to retain the pass at all times while off-campus. That same pass will be used to check in with the Attendance Secretary upon the return of the student to campus.  Appointments during the school day must be kept to a minimum.

No student is allowed to leave campus without checking out with the Attendance Office. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in disciplinary action.

Athletic and or Social Participation
Student(s) must attend at least 4 class periods on the day of a school event (athletic contest, sports banquets, dances, etc.) to attend or participate in that event, including practices.

Pre-Arranged Absences
All absences other than illness and emergencies must be Pre-Arranged with the Dean of Students, Mrs. Guggia.  For example; Senior college trips, weddings, funerals and all day medical appointments or procedures.  Please see page 18 of The Shield for more specific information.

See The Shield on pages 18-20 for all attendance policies.
